Welcome to Sebastopol

Easygoing, beautiful environment — complete with charming storefronts, renowned wineries, and top-ranking schools

The City of Sebastopol, located in Sonoma County, is surrounded by bucolic countryside and nature areas. Residents enjoy living minutes from acclaimed wineries, well-maintained parks, restorative nature trails, and a host of conveniences. Thanks to its suburban-rural location, many of the homes in Sebastopol boast spacious lots. Smaller properties typically have 1.5+ acres, while the most sprawling on the market offer 200+ acres. Most of the houses here were built in the 1950s-1970s, and feature various architectural styles common to that time frame.

On top of enjoying privacy and tranquility in residential areas, residents of this laid-back city are thoroughly pleased with its shopping and dining scene. Along (and just off of) Main Street, there is an abundance of stores and restaurants to explore. At The Barlow — a trendy outdoor shopping complex in Downtown Sebastopol — individuals can browse a collection of locally-owned businesses. The complex features 40 artisan producers and spans an impressive four city blocks. Nearby, grab a table at favorite restaurants and cafes such as Patisserie Angelica, Retrograde Coffee Roasters, Fern Bar, Kathmandu Cafe & Grill - Taste Of Nepal, Jam’s Joy Bungalow, and Ramen Gaijin. While not located in the Downtown area, Gravenstein Grill is another must-visit restaurant. Dine on signature dishes such as the Butternut Squash & Apple Soup, and the Sonoma Mountain NY Strip Steak, in an elegant and cozy setting.

Elsewhere in Sebastopol, there is a multitude of events and activities for locals to enjoy. Every Sunday from 10 am until 1:30 pm, pick up locally-produced goods at the Sebastopol Farmers Market. During select times of the year, attend the Gravenstein Apple Fair (a two-day event that raises money for the Sonoma County Farm Trails), and the Apple Blossom Festival and Parade. While checking out the area, plan visits to the Laguna Preserve, Meadowlark Field (which features breathtaking vistas), the Florence Avenue Art Walk, Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, Ragle Ranch Park, Skategarden Park (skate park), and Brookhaven Super Park.

Parents can send their children and teens to one of Sebastopol’s highly-rated schools. Minutes from home, there are fantastic schools that extend from elementary to high school.
